The next step in sustainability: Hidex - LKB Biofuel Method

Hidex Biofuel Method

Hidex and LKB have developed a revolutionary novel method for detection of biogenic carbon-% in fuels. Fossil based fuels are increasingly replaced by fuels of biologic origin, such as hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). Percentage of biogenic carbon component in fuel was traditionally determined either by sending samples for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) in a third-party laboratory or liquid scintillation preceded by benzene synthesis. The direct detection of biofuel by LSC is able to overcome many limitations of traditional biocarbon quantification as liquid fuel samples can be measured directly after mixing with scintillation cocktail. Hidex biofuel method improves upon direct LSC measurement by bypassing the need for a background sample and providing individual calibration for each customer. It uses the patented Hidex Biofuel Algorithm to deduce the background CPM and counting efficiency.

LKB - Skudtek Proudly Sponsors SPERA 2022

We are proud to have once again continued our partnership with SPERA. For many years now LKB has worked closely with SPERA , enabling the important work of the worlds scientists to continue to be told, heard, and acted upon.

The program covered all aspects of environmental radioactivity, ranging from advances in methods, new research in radioecology and emergency preparedness and in contaminated sites as well as applications of radiotracers in environmental processes. The aim was to have as many oral presentations as possible in the various sessions and a large selection of posters that shall boost debate and discussion amongst attendees. This was complemented by several exciting talks by invited speakers. The four themes were Instruments & Method Development, Contaminated Sites – impact assessment & Emergency preparedness, Radioecology and Radiotracers in environmental processes.

Introducing the next steps in cutting edge sample preparation: The 600 OXC and Q-ARE 100

LKB-Hidex 600 OXC - Automated Sample Oxidiser

Ignite your research potential with the LKB-Hidex 600 OX sample oxidiser. The ideal instrument for sample preparation in drug metabolism, plant biology or agriculture science.

The 600 OXC is a fully computer controlled automated catalytic combustion unit for all organic sample preparation. The system uses industrial standard logic and mass flow controllers for fully reliable sample combustion processes and is ideal for a variety of samples such as: soil, concrete, faeces, tissue, cellulose, paint, adipose, crude oil, blood, plant material, bones and concrete from nuclear decommissioning of power plants.

LKB Nuclear- Leading the way in H. pylori Breath Test

In recent months, LKB Nuclear has continued to expand the reach of its Liquid Scintillation Counters with an additional number of installations into Australia's largest Pathology Laboratories and Government organisations.

LKB Nuclear in partnership with Hidex Oy (Finland) has been a market leader in the field of Liquid Scintillation Counting for over 20 years. In that time a number of innovations have been spearheaded and with them, cutting edge Applications developed through a wide range of disciplines. One such development is the use of TDCR (only available on Hidex counters) with C14 Urea Breath Test for the detection of H. pylori in a pathology environment.

The Urea Breath Test is the gold standard for H. Pylori detection in Australia, and LKB Nuclear is proud to be consistently serving the community by facilitating a non-invasive, reliable, and sensitive means for detection of H. Pylori.
